Divisional Secretariat - Deraniyagala

The commencement of the official activities of the Deraniyagala Divisional Secretariat for the year 2025 was held on 2025.01.01 under the patronage of the Divisional Secretary at the office premises. First of all, the National Flag was hoisted by the Divisional Secretary and the National Anthem was sung. After observing a two-minute silence to pay homage to the war heroes who sacrificed their lives for the protection of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Sri Lanka, the Divisional Secretary, staff officers and heads of departments, including the Divisional Secretary, lit coconut oil lamps and the work commenced.

Afterwards, the Buddhist Affairs Coordinator of the Deraniyagala Divisional Secretariat, Venerable Galahitikande Dhammawansa Thero, performed religious rituals and chanted Seth Pirith.

The Divisional Secretary and the entire staff joined hands to take the Citizen Pledge by joining the live broadcast of the #CleanSriLanka program, which is being implemented under the theme of a Beautiful Country - A Rich Life, based on a concept by His Excellency the President.

Afterwards, the Divisional Secretary, Assistant Divisional Secretary, Assistant Director (Planning), Administrative Officer, Administrative Grama Niladhari, Samurdhi Headquarters Manager and all staff officers extended their best wishes for the year 2025.

In parallel, the Divisional Secretary presented the winning trophy to the women's volleyball team, which won the championship in the inter-state volleyball tournament held recently at the Kegalle District Volleyball Festival, to the team captain Subashini Karunarathne and the players.
