Deraniyagala Divisional Secretariat Commencement of Duties for the New Year 2022 was held on 03rd January 2022 at the Deraniyagala Divisional Secretariat premises giving priority to religious observances in accordance with the Health Guidelines.

The Venerable Maha Sangha chanted Seth Pirith, followed by the hoisting of the National Flag and the singing of the National Anthem, followed by a 2 minute silence to commemorate all those who sacrificed their lives for the country, including war heroes.

The entire staff then read out the Public Service Pledge / Affidavit and then delivered a short lecture by the Deraniyagala Health Medical Officer's Office emphasizing the responsibility of each individual, society and office to prevent the spread of the Covid 19 virus.

The inaugural session of the New Year 2022 concluded with a keynote address by the Divisional Secretary emphasizing the need for the public service to make a significant commitment to achieve the particular priorities and goals of the Government Policy Statement, with the greetings of the New Year.

Under the financial provisions of Sabaragamuwa Provincial Department of Probation, Child Care and Social Services, in conjunction with the International Day of Disability Celebrations organized by the Deraniyagala Divisional Secretariat, Ekamuthu Swashakthi Organization and Special Education Units, Regional Commemoration Ceremony for Persons with Special Needs, held on 30th December 2021 at the Office Auditorium.

Planting of saplings in Deraniyagala Division on 28.12.2021 in parallel to the “Husma Denathuru” tree planting program jointly implemented by the Ministry of Environment and the District Secretariat, held in at 8.30 am at the premises of Sri Samabodhi Mangala Maha Viharaya, Lihiniyagala of Udabage Division. Simultaneously, planting was done on both sides of the road in the domain and in the "Seva Piyasa" area.

The Divisional Literary Festival was held on 28th December 2021 at the Divisional Secretariat with the objective of awarding prizes and certificates to the winners of the 2021 Regional Literary Competition and evaluating the local artists. The event was sponsored by the Department of Cultural Affairs, the Provincial Ministry of Culture and the Regional Cultural Authority.

The job fair organized by the Department of Buddhist Affairs, Department of Labor and Employment, Skills Development and Vocational Training Institutions and the Deraniyagala Divisional Secretariat under the Punyu Grama Program was held on 14th December 2021 at the Basnagala Sri Sugathabimbarama Temple. There were 26 registrations for self employment, 16 referrals / recruitments for employment and 07 recruitments for vocational training, which were attended by 09 employers and 02 government vocational training institutes.
